Every time I step into the candy/snack section at Five Below, it feels like a little treasure hunt. One minute I’m “just browsing,” and the next minute my arms are full of colorful bags, cute packaging, and random treats I didn’t even know existed. If you love trying new snacks (sweet, salty, chewy, crunchy… all of it), this is one of those places where it’s way too easy to get carried away 😋

What I like most is the mix: classic comfort snacks, fun seasonal stuff, and a surprising amount of international-style finds. It’s the kind of haul that can turn a regular night into a movie-night spread, a road trip into a snack buffet, or a picnic into something that looks like it took effort (even when it didn’t).

The “snackle box” idea is honestly genius

I used to throw snacks into a bag and call it a day… until I got introduced to the whole snackle box concept. If you don’t have one, it’s basically a snack organizer with compartments, and it makes snack time feel weirdly put-together. It’s giving “I planned this,” even if I absolutely did not 🤩

What makes it so practical is the little sections. I can separate sweet from salty, crunchy from chewy, and keep everything from getting smashed. It’s also super convenient for car rides, park days, movie nights, and those afternoons when I want “a little bit of everything” but don’t want to open five full-size bags.

If I’m packing for a longer day out, I’ll put the fruity chews in their own compartment so they don’t stick to anything else. And if the candy is extra soft, I keep it away from salty snacks because the flavors can mingle fast.

2) Crunchy & salty corner (the “movie night” energy)

Crunchy snacks are non-negotiable for me. Chips, puffed snacks, pretzel-style bites—anything that gives that loud crunch is automatically invited. I’m especially into bold flavors that feel a little spicy or tangy, because they wake up my taste buds and make the sweet snacks taste even better right after.

Sometimes I’ll do a “Buy or Bye” moment with these. If it’s super flavorful and I keep reaching for it, it’s a BUY. If it tastes flat or the seasoning is weirdly off, it’s a BYE. The fun part is that the snack aisle always has something new, so even the misses feel like part of the experience.

4) “Cute packaging” corner (the snack that’s also a vibe)

Some snacks get picked purely because they’re adorable. If it has a cute character theme, a bright design, or a fun little container, I’m probably grabbing it. It’s not even about being fancy—it’s about the experience. Opening something cute just makes the whole moment better.

And yes, I absolutely save the cutest items for when I’m watching a show or having a little self-care night. It’s like a tiny reward for existing 😌

5) The “random surprise” compartment (my favorite one)

This is where I put the snack that’s totally new to me. Sometimes it’s a crunchy noodle-style snack that tastes like a familiar comfort food but in a totally different texture. Sometimes it’s a candy I remember from childhood that randomly shows up again and hits me with instant nostalgia.

I love when a snack does that—like, I take one bite and suddenly I’m remembering school lunches, corner store candy runs, or sharing treats with friends. It’s such a small thing, but it makes the haul feel personal.

Turning snacks into an activity (not just eating)

One of the most fun finds I’ve seen is the kind of snack that feels interactive—like something you can “use” before you eat. That’s the type of thing I bring out when friends are over, because it instantly becomes a conversation piece.

I’m a sucker for seasonal snacks. If it’s shaped like hearts, has a festive color theme, or just looks like it belongs in a holiday movie, it’s going in my cart. Even if it tastes similar to the regular version, the seasonal vibe makes it feel special.

And if I’m putting together a snackle box as a little gift or a “snack date” idea, seasonal shapes are the easiest way to make it look intentional with almost zero effort.

My personal “Buy or Bye” snack rules

I’ve learned a few things from trying so many snacks, so now I have a mini system:

BUY if the flavor is strong enough that I don’t need a dip or a drink to “help it.”

BUY if the texture is satisfying (crispy stays crispy, chewy stays chewy).

BYE if the seasoning is uneven in a bad way (all powder in one bite, nothing in the next).

BYE if the snack is messy in a way that ruins the experience (too much loose powder that makes me cough, or sticky candy that glues itself to everything).

That said… even some “BYE” snacks are worth trying once, just for the curiosity factor. The snack aisle is basically a playground.

How I pack a snackle box so it actually stays good

I learned this the hard way, so here’s what works for me:

Keep crunchy away from chewy. Crunchy snacks can get soft if they sit next to moist or sticky candies.

Chocolate gets its own space. It melts, it smears, it picks up flavors—so I keep it separate.

Use “buffer snacks.” If I’m mixing strong flavors (like spicy chips) with sweet snacks, I put a neutral crunchy bite in between compartments if possible.

Don’t overfill. It’s tempting, but leaving a little space helps everything stay intact and not crushed.

Snack haul energy: what I’d grab again

The snacks that always win me over are the ones that feel fun and taste good. Chewy fruity candy that’s soft and flavorful, crunchy snacks with a bold kick, and chocolate treats with a crispy bite are the trio I keep coming back to.

And the snackle box itself? I’m fully convinced it’s one of those little life upgrades that makes everyday moments better. It turns “I’m hungry” into “I’m having a snack moment.” Big difference 😋
